Nous ne sommes qu'à peu près en toutes choses - Agathe Thevenot

By Agathe Thevenot

About

Drawing on the art of cabaret, this resolutely autobiographical, intimate account of a stripper and dancer, Nous ne sommes qu’à peu près en toutes choses, explores the resilience of a body that has been tested and sculpted by adversity.

On stage, the character is stylised to the extreme and, with meticulous precision of movement, plays with the codes of seduction and desire. This creates vulnerable openings, transcended by sound and light. The dancer’s presence becomes unsettled and disrupted; bugs and glitches crack this unsettling narrative, which oscillates between beauty and gravity.

An artist whose work lies at the intersection of dance, performance and cabaret, based between Brussels and Paris, Agathe Thevenot has danced for numerous Belgian and French choreographers. Nous ne sommes qu’à peu près en toutes choses is her first solo creation.
