COLLECTIF THÖZ CONCERT SERIES : FRICTION EXTENDED

Ensemble A : Simon Groppe - conductor Shao-Huan Hung - sheng Jim Monneau - double bass Tristan Bernoud - vibraphone

Ensemble B : Théo Zipper - conductor Akram Ben Romdhane - oud Manuel Hermia - flutes Julien Tassin - guitar

Inspired by the principle of Karlheinz Stockhausen’s Gruppen, this setup brings together eight musicians divided into two autonomous ensembles. Simon Groppe and Théo Zipper conduct both ensembles simultaneously. Each group develops its own trajectory according to its own logic, while their paths may intersect, respond to one another, collide, or completely ignore each other. The conducting of the setup acts upon the very conditions of improvisation. Through a system of targeted interventions, it guides interactions, redistributes responsibilities, creates ruptures or encourages convergences, without ever determining the musical content.
