Four dancers and a musician, all of whom have experienced exile, invite us to take part in a living ritual and explore the imprints left behind when one leaves a country, a childhood, a home: those traces that places and memories leave on our bodies, which time cannot erase.
Like the shadow left on a wall by someone who is no longer there, memory persists. It surfaces without warning and brings the turmoil of the present to a standstill. It takes root in a gesture, the scent of coffee, a song heard from afar, an inner rhythm carried everywhere like a home one has never quite left.
ماحلى خﯾالك [Beautiful Shadows] is Ahmed Ayed’s second production to be staged at Les Brigittines following …And nobody else (2024).
