WITH PRESENTATION NOT SO CLASSICAL DISCOVERIES

While Astor Piazzolla is widely regarded as the creator of *tango nuevo*, less is known about another pioneer, Eduardo Rovira, also born in the 1920s. Revolutionising tango through independent and avant-garde approaches, the two bandoneon players met only twice. Rovira regarded Piazzolla as an admirable colleague; Piazzolla saw Rovira as a valuable innovator. The Sonico Ensemble revives rare scores from their respective octets, the Octeto Buenos Aires and the Octeto La Plata, in a unique project exploring the very edges (“the edge”) of tango.
